Easy Homemade Applesauce | No Sugar Added!

This applesauce recipe tastes AMAZING and has no added sugar! With just 4 simple ingredients, I'll show you how easy it is to make homemade applesauce in an instant pot or on the stovetop.

Equipment

  • Instant Pot
  • Immersion Blender (or standard blender)
  • Sharp Knife
  • Peeler
  • Melon Baller

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (optional)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

Instant Pot Directions

  • Peel, core, and cut apples into chunks.
  • Place apple pieces, cinnamon sticks and lemon peel into the instant pot.
  • Juice the lemon over the pot and pour in the water.
  • Seal the instant pot and set to high pressure for 8 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally.
  • Remove the cinnamon sticks and lemon peel. Use immersion blender to puree or transfer into a standard blender.

Stovetop Directions

  • Prepare the ingredients the same as above, but place into a large heavy pot with a lid.
  • Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Check that the apples are fork tender before blending. (may need an additional 5 minutes)

Notes

Applesauce can be refrigerated for 7-10 days or frozen for up to 6 months.
