If you’re looking for a cute and easy Valentine’s Day craft for your toddler, look no further! In this post, I’ll show you how to make this simple DIY heart stamp craft that will keep your toddler happy and busy this Valentine’s Day.
Your toddler will have a great time getting messy and expressing their creativity, and you’ll have cute paintings to hang or make Valentine’s cards with. Okay let’s get into how to make this easy Valentine’s Day craft!
Materials Needed
I’ll list out all of the materials that I used, but the beauty of this craft is that you likely already have all of these items!
- Washable Kids Paint
- Sponge – I got some pink Scotch Brite sponges to keep in the Valentine’s Day theme.
- Paper – I used 8.5″ X 11 sheets from this Sketch Book.
- Scissors
- Roll of Craft Paper (optional)
- Bib/Apron (optional but highly recommended)
- Small plate (to hold the paint)

Prepare the Valentine’s Day Craft Area
Before we get started, let’s take a minute to prepare the crafting area. Let’s be real, crafts can get messy quickly with a toddler around. Whenever there’s paint involved, I like to take the extra time to line the table that we’ll be painting on with some craft paper. This protects the table and creates additional space for creative freedom. I always put a long sleeve bib on my toddler when we’re dealing with paint (who wants to do more laundry than they have to, right?!).

Set Out the DIY Heart Stamp Supplies
Once the craft area is ready, it’s time to make the DIY heart stamps and prepare the supplies. First, cut the sponge into little hearts in varying sizes. I used the corners as the base of the heart and just cut out the rounded tops. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just do your best here. Next, pour a small amount of red, pink, and white paint on a plate for your toddler to use. Once you set out the paper, you’re ready to go.
Time to Paint!
Now your toddler is ready for some Valentine’s Day crafting! I love that this craft has no real structure, the whole point is to just let your little one express their creativity and HAVE FUN. I started out by stamping one heart onto the paper to give my toddler some inspo, and he took it from there. Bonus points if you throw on a fun Valentine’s playlist in the background while you paint!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
We had so much fun making this sweet and simple Valentine’s Day craft. My son loved using the different sized heart stamps to create his masterpiece, and I loved watching him express his creativity!
